Eurostar train services have partially resumed after a truck fire closed the Chanel Tunnel in both directions, leaving thousands of passengers stranded.
The main operator of the tunnel, Eurotunnel, said the services began at 0245 GMT in Britain and at 0330 GMT in France early Sunday morning.
The operator however warned of delays of between 30 minutes to one hour as only one of the tunnels is open for traffic.
The underground train services between Britain and Europe’s mainland were suspended a day earlier after a truck on board one of its trains from the UK to France caught fire in the railway’s south tunnel at the French end.
No injuries were reported and 42 passengers were safely evacuated from the shuttle using the service tunnel.
The incident triggered widespread travel chaos in both countries, as up to 15,000 passengers were reportedly affected by the cancellations.
Some 400 trains carrying 1.5 million trucks and passengers traveling between London, Brussels and Paris pass through the tunnel every day.
